Medical research shows allergies are a problem of epidemic proportion and with over 40 million allergy-sufferers in the United States, the treatment of allergies and allergy-related symptoms is a major part of most medical practices today. Remember, allergies can occur anywhere in the body and, therefore, are often misdiagnosed. Most people recognize allergic reactions when they occur near the skin, like hives, urticaria-rashes and other skin eruptions. However, they are not the only symptoms of an allergy.

Causes of an allergy may be related to a tendency of genetic predisposition, where 60-75% of children may be affected by allergic reaction to foreign substances if both parents are known to be allergic. If only one parent is allergic, the susceptibility to an allergy will still be high in the children. The susceptibility, however, is more crucial with children and adults in cases where metabolic and immune deficiencies are factors, coupled with a biochemical individuality. We all know families where two, three or more are suffering with allergies and other members of the family are completely untouched by allergy or any other impairment to health.

There is immune system mediated hypersensitivity reactions limited to immunoglobulin E (IgE) Type I (food allergies), cytotoxic reactions linked to immunoglobulin IgC and IgM of the Type II, as well as Type III – immune complex – mediated reactions from antigens (foreign proteins in the system) are able to cause injury to the body and may lead to anaphylactic shock, and Type IV, T-cell dependent mediated primarily by T-lymphocytes associated with contact dermatitis or allergic colitis. Allergic reactions may occur through any of the above interactions with your immune system.

Non-Immune Mechanisms

Masked Sensitivity
In masked sensitivity the symptoms that result don’t occur immediately after ingesting the food to which the sufferer is sensitive and are multiple in nature and seem to occur randomly. In practice this is recognized as “masked sensitivity”. In a masked sensitivity a chronic state of ill health develops, such as headache or general malaise. The food to which the patient is sensitive is probably being ingested on many occasions during the day. Most of your staple foods may cause a reaction when the immune system is compromised. If the patient is sensitive to milk, then milk in any form should not be consumed more than once every four days (this is known as rotation diet). However, the problem with rotation diet is that it will cause malnutrition in the long run due to dietary imbalance. The major problem within clinical allergy treatment is to diagnose the masked sensitivity and correct the problem.

• Reactions triggered by “inflammatory mediators” such as prostaglandins, leukotrienes, slow releasing substance of anaphylaxis, serotonin, histamine, kinins, platelet aggregating factors and others. These inflammatory mediators are capable of triggering mast cell and basophil degranulation and activating the alternative complement pathway of inflammation. This “pseudo-allergic” reaction is involved in reactions to food additives, aspirin, and other compounds.
  
• Naturally occurring histamine content in food can activate an allergic reaction. High histamine foods include chocolate, shellfish, sausage, sauerkraut, wine preserves, spinach, tomato, strawberry, banana, papaya and alcohol.
  
• Indigestion, malabsorption, repetitive exposure to the same foods, candidiasis, hypochlorhydria, pancreatic insufficiency, hypothyroidism, bowel microflora imbalances, can all represent factors in developing and maintaining food allergies. (90% of Floridians have one or more of the above problems!)

Diagnosis is made through our infra-red thermography sensor, blood test consisting of a metabolic profile, and a CBC with differential, a micro allergy computer calorimetric urine analysis and a thorough patient history, with an emphasis on the environmental surroundings that are associated with allergy related symptoms. The allergy related symptoms the patient experiences in each organ system are studied in depth. Examples include watery and itchy eyes, itching ears or recurrent ear infections, sneezing attacks, persistent sore throat or itching on the roof of the mouth, persistent coughing or chest congestion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, gas, bloating, indigestion, concentration and/or memory difficulty, diffuse joint pains, mood swings, anxiety, insomnia, depression, “binge” eating or drinking, fatigue and sluggishness.

Physical examination findings may further support the diagnosis of allergies. These findings are broad and range over many organ systems. Examples include dark circles under the eyes (allergic shiners), watery eyes, sneezing, swollen tongue or lips, hives, other skin rashes and abdominal bloating.

Route of Administration:
